Traverse House
The synthetic structure in just a few elements allows a quick reading of the entire composition. Two wide walls in concrete slats concentrate all the technical elements, such as a water tank for use and reuse, air conditioning equipment and other technologies. A single light sheet intersects the two heavy volumes, crossing the residence in a palliative composition and purpose. The 3% slope is virtually imperceptible. The sheet extends at the ends, and on the west side, cantilevered, it provides the necessary protection for the parking lot. Wooden shutter slats regulate the incidence of sunlight, and create a pleasant atmosphere that permeates the residence in the opposite direction to that of the roof. An inside-outside winter garden, in the circulation of the bedrooms, intends to bring the external environment inside: a continuity strategy that works very well in environments with reduced dimensions that demand a longer path. The density of the walls and the compactness index are some of the architectural decisions that make up the “cost” guideline for this residence as an assumption.
