Shadow House

The desert landscape, with a lot of aridity in its perspectives, demanded a neutral compositional element that would disappear in the landscape, that would accommodate and not reflect its textures. The high and low temperatures in the desert regions demand a successful relationship with the internal spaces, so is expected maximum energy efficiency for this residence. The guideline was to use a pergola made of recyclable marine wood, structured in steel, which provides the entire residence with long periods of shade on its balconies. The sequence of pergolas is interrupted by a part of the same elements that move to give space and light to the pool. The same eccentric pergolas serve as a visual shelter for the loungers. The play of volumes maintains the rhythm of the shadows that vary during the day and articulate living spaces around the house, creating a pleasant atmosphere of light, temperature and shadows.
